Here's a list of website development technical terms used at proshay.com. Just a little helpful glossary.

Bandwidth - The range of frequencies, expressed in Kilobits per second, that can pass over a given data transmission channel within a frame relay network. The bandwidth determines the rate at which information can be sent through a channel - the greater the bandwidth, the more information that can be sent in a given amount of time.

BIOS Basic Input-Output System; a chip (or chips) in your pc that controls how your computer communicates with hardware components in your system, like the keyboard, floppy drive, and hard disk.

Boot The process of starting up a computer.

Browser A winsock client (software) used to navigate the Internet. Netscape and Internet Explorer are examples.

Browser Control Panel - All users have access to a Web-based Control Panel which allows you to set mail forwarding options, enable/disable anonymous FTP access, view your statistics, change your password and more. It also allows access to other features such as an HTML Form Generator, Web-based HTML editor and Perl script checker. Users can also update account contact information at anytime without having to contact customer support.

Byte The smallest unit of storage, either on a disk or in memory.
