Here's a list of website development technical terms used at proshay.com. Just a little helpful glossary.

KDA. Keyword Density Analyzer. A software program that determines the keyword density, either together or separately, of various parts of a web page - body, head, title, etc. Also see Keyword density.

Keyword phrase. General term used to define a specific word phrase that best describes the main topic of a web page. Synonymous with a search phrase that a visitor enters into a search engine to find specific information.

Keyword. General term used to define the main topic of a page. Synonymous with search term. A group of keywords used together in a phrase is called a keyword phrase. Google looks for keywords on a page that match searched-for terms.

Keyword density. The number of times a keyword is used on a web page divided by the total number of words on the page. Expressed as a percentage.

Keyword prominence. How close to the beginning or top of a web page that a keyword is found.

Keyword proximity. How close together the individual words that make up a keyword phrase are to one another, and in what order.

Keyword weight. Also known as keyword density.

KB An abbreviation for Kilobyte.Kilobyte One thousand bytes, or more precisely, 1,024 bytes.LAN Local Area Network - a network with all its computers close together (geographically).

keyword - words that describe your Web site as well as words that visitors may use to find your Web site. "boat" "shoes" "cars" are all examples of keywords.

keyword density - also known as keyword weight, a measurement/ratio of the number of keywords in relation to the total number of words on the page.

keyword frequency - refers to how frequently a keyword or phrase appears on a particular page.

keyword phrase - two or more words that may be used to describe your business or a phrase that visitors may use to find your business's Web site in a search engine. "large boats" "children's shoes" "antique uscle cars" are all examples of keyword phrases.

keyword prominence - where your keywords lie in relation to the top of the Web page.

Keyword - A term for which you want your site to show up in the results when searched. Generally you will want to compile a list of relevant and potential keywords and then optimize a page on your site for each.

Keyword Effectiveness Index - A term coined by the Wordtracker service that is a function of the competitiveness of a keyword and the number of searches for that keyword.

Keyword Frequency - The number of times your targeted keyword is in a specific area of your page including the meta tags, heading tags, body tag, and alt-tag. Generally you will want your keyword to be listed a number of times in each. As an approximate rule of thumb, use your keyword no more than three times per meta tag, four times in heading tags, twenty times in the body tag, and ten times in the alt-tag.

Keyword Prominence (Density) - How close to the start of an area that your keyword appears. The closer to the beginning your targeted keyword appears, the higher the prominence, the higher the prominence the better. Prominence applies to the words within the title, body of the document, the meta tags, the heading tags, and the alt-tags.

Keyword Spamming - Using a keyword repeatedly out of context in an attempt to gain additional frequency and in turn obtain a better search engine ranking.
